Police removed two parents from their aircraft after they allegedly boarded without their ten-year-old son, who had been stopped at the gate because his paperwork was incomplete. How the Mix Up Unfolded
Airport crew flagged the family when the boy’s documents failed to meet international requirements. When no passenger admitted responsibility, officers boarded the plane, located the parents several rows back, and escorted them to the terminal.
The Paperwork Problem
Investigators later discovered that the boy’s original passport had expired months earlier. He was carrying a Spanish passport as a fallback, but that document still required a visa for the family’s destination, so airline staff refused him clearance. Rather than resolve the error at the airport, the parents called a relative to collect the child and boarded the plane anyway. Six checked suitcases linked to the family had to be removed before the flight could depart.
Police Intervention and Possible Charges
Authorities reunited the family at the airport station, where the child had been kept safe, and filed a report for possible child abandonment.
