New Nonstop Flights from the U.S. to Portugal Launching in 2025
TAP Air Portugal is making European getaways more convenient with the announcement of three new nonstop routes from the United States to Portugal. For the first time, travelers from Los Angeles will have a direct connection to Lisbon, while Boston and San Francisco passengers gain access to new destinations.
Exciting New Routes to Portugal
Starting in May 2025, TAP Air Portugal will launch flights between:
- Boston and Porto
- Los Angeles and Lisbon
- San Francisco and Terceira (Azores)
Carlos Antunes, TAP’s director for the Americas, expressed enthusiasm for the new offerings. “We’re tremendously excited to expand our network,” he shared. He also highlighted TAP’s Portugal Stopover program, which allows travelers to enjoy up to 10 days in Portugal en route to other European destinations or on their way back to the U.S., at no additional airfare cost.
Boston to Porto
Flights from Boston to Porto will begin on May 14, 2025, running four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Operated on an Airbus A321-LR aircraft, this seasonal route will continue through October 25, 2025.
Introductory fares for this route start at $529 roundtrip if booked by December 17, 2024.
Los Angeles to Lisbon
The new Los Angeles to Lisbon route launches on May 16, 2025, marking the first direct service TAP has offered from L.A. Flights will operate on an Airbus A330-900 neo aircraft three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Starting May 25, a fourth weekly flight will be added on Saturdays.
With fares starting at $679 roundtrip (available for bookings made by December 17), Los Angeles becomes TAP’s eighth U.S. gateway city, joining New York, Newark, Boston, Miami, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and San Francisco.
San Francisco to Terceira
TAP will also launch flights between San Francisco and Terceira, a picturesque island in the Azores, on June 3, 2025. This route will operate once a week on Tuesdays through August 26, 2025, using an Airbus A330-900 neo aircraft.
