More Than 20 Passengers Banned After Brawl at Carnival Cruise Terminal in Galveston

Galveston, Texas – A weekend voyage ended in chaos for dozens of Carnival Cruise Line passengers after a large altercation broke out during disembarkation at the Galveston cruise terminal. According to reports from NBC News, the incident, which was caught on video, involved a group of individuals physically shoving and striking each other while exiting the ship under the authority of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Footage from the scene showed multiple people being pushed to the ground, with fists flying as others attempted to intervene or back away. The precise cause of the altercation remains unclear, and authorities have not released information regarding any serious injuries or hospitalizations linked to the fight.
Carnival Cruise Line confirmed that 24 individuals involved in the melee have been permanently banned from sailing with the company. The case has been formally referred to law enforcement for further investigation.
“The incident occurred in the debarkation area under the authority of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. The matter was turned over to law enforcement. We will not tolerate such behavior, and 24 people have been placed on our Do Not Sail list,” Carnival said in a statement.
The fight reportedly took place aboard the Carnival Vista, a popular cruise ship in the company’s fleet that regularly departs from Galveston for destinations across the Caribbean. While minor scuffles have occasionally been reported on cruises in the past, incidents of this scale resulting in mass bans are rare.
At this time, no arrests or additional disciplinary actions have been publicly announced by law enforcement officials. Updates are expected as authorities continue their investigation.
The Carnival Vista continues to operate scheduled itineraries out of Galveston, but the incident has renewed attention on security procedures during the boarding and disembarkation processes, where high passenger volumes can sometimes create volatile situations.
