JetBlue passengers may need to adjust their travel plans as the airline is eliminating several routes, including many serving New York City, in 2025. These cuts are part of a broader network adjustment aimed at focusing resources on high-demand markets and new opportunities.

Which Routes Are Being Cut?

JetBlue has announced that more than half a dozen routes will either end or not return next year. The affected routes include:

  • Westchester, NY (HPN) – Charleston (CHS)
  • Jacksonville (JAX) – Fort Lauderdale (FLL)
  • New York (JFK) – Austin (AUS)
  • New York (JFK) – Houston (IAH)
  • New York (JFK) – Miami (MIA)
  • New York (JFK) – Milwaukee (MKE)
  • San Jose, CA (SJC) – All flights, to and from

Additionally, the summer seasonal route between New York (JFK) and London-Gatwick (LGW) has been canceled. However, service to London-Heathrow (LHR) will remain.

Seasonal Adjustments and Aircraft Changes

JetBlue is also making adjustments to several other routes:

  • Flights between Boston (BOS) and Phoenix (PHX), Boston and Grenada (GND), and New York and Tulum (TQO) will now operate as winter seasonal routes.
  • The New York–Paris (CDG) route will reduce its second daily summer seasonal flight.
  • All flights to and from Seattle (SEA) will operate exclusively on JetBlue’s all-core planes, meaning only basic seating will be available.

Why the Changes?

JetBlue explained that the affected routes were “underperforming” and removing them will allow the airline to reallocate resources to high-demand markets. This includes expanding services such as their popular Mint class and increasing options in their European network.

“Recently, we made some network adjustments in certain markets, removing underperforming flying from our schedule, allowing us to redeploy resources toward high-demand markets and new opportunities,” the airline said in a statement.

What This Means for Passengers

Passengers who rely on these routes are encouraged to look for alternative flight options on JetBlue’s website. For routes that don’t offer alternatives, JetBlue promises refunds for affected customers.

Most changes will take effect around April 30, 2025, according to a JetBlue spokesperson.

JetBlue’s decision to realign its network reflects the competitive landscape of the airline industry, focusing on markets where demand remains strong while cutting back on less profitable routes. Travelers impacted by these changes should plan accordingly and explore other options for their upcoming trips.
